Welcome to the Nile Basin Rainfall Research webpage at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette).  This webpage presents our research activities on satellite-rainfall estimation and evluation over the Nile Basin in Eastern Africa.

The main focus of this research on (1) Satellite-based rainfall estimation over the domain of the Nile basin using Infrared and Microwave satellite observations and, (2) Validation of available satellite-rainfall products from variety of existing algorithms, and assessment of their performance over the Nile Basin.  Our research also covers application-driven assessment of the satellite-rainfall products for hydrologic studies over the basin.

This research is lead by Dr. Emad Habib at UL Lafayette and includes collaboration with the NOAA Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR), and the Nile Forecasting Center at the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Cairo, Egypt. Visit our Team link to learn more about our collaborators.
