Philosophy 322:
               History of Modern Philosophy

Welcome to the course home page for Dr. Korcz's History of Modern Philosophy course, Spring 2023!

Course Description: The modern, or enlightenment, era in Europe, roughly during the 17th - 18th centuries, saw a radical shift to a new way of thinking about the world and the place of people in it. Underlying this period of enlightenment was a philosophical revolution that set the stage for contemporary science and philosophy. In this course, we'll evaluate the philosophical works some of the key figures of that era, including Rene Descartes, Princess Elisabeth of Bohemia, George Berkeley, David Hume, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, Margaret Cavendish, Immanuel Kant, and others. In the process, we'll see what all the fuss was about!

Prerequisite: ENGL 101

Section #: 001
Meeting Time: MW 2:30 - 3:45 pm
