PREPARING THE CABLE

  • PREPARING THE CABLE
  1. Before you start, make sure that no end of the extension cord is plugged in.  *Careless operation could result in electric shock*
  2. Cut off the broken, or worn end of the cord.
  3. Slide the internal piece of the plug onto the cable FIRST and then the outside portion of the plug SECOND onto the cable.
  4. Carefully slit the outer cable jacket at the end you just cut about 2 inches while making sure you do not cut any of the 3 individual wires on the inside of the cable.
  5. Remove the unwanted jacket from the cord to display the 3 individual wires within the extension cord.
  6. Split up the Black, Green, and White wires inside the cord.
  7. With the wire strippers, strip back the Black wire about ½ of an inch (Refer to Figure 1).
  8. Repeat step 7 with the Green Wire.
  9. Repeat step 7 with the White Wire
  10. After stripping back each of the three wires, twist the copper conductors inside the wire to where they are tightly together and none are poking out. (Refer to Figure 2).
