 So, the main pro of time travel would have to be the ability to advance technology by traveling to the future and bringing that knowledge to the past. But if one were to bring futuristic technology to the past and speed up the advancement of technology, the traveler could not get the same technology from the future because by that time the technology will be more advanced. This creates a paradox which would be the main con of time travel. This is considered a time paradox.

Paradoxes can be avoided by use of parallel universes and tangent universe...but I'll save that for another time (no pun intended).

If one were born in 1986 and went back in time to 1930 and killed his grandfather, then his father would have never been born and he would have never been born. A paradox is created because if he was not born, then he could not travel back in time to kill his grandfather. This is known as the grandfather paradox.
