The following instructions are a step by step guide to changing your oil and rotating your tires on a 2003 Ford F-150 4x4 or 4x2.  These directions will be specific enough to make your oil change and tire rotation experience quicker and easier.  Consult your owner’s manual if you have any specific topic related questions.

BEFORE YOU START

HERE ARE THE MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO PERFORM THIS TASK SAFELY AND EFFICIENTLY:

A flat dry surface (preferably concrete), or a place which is compacted enough to roll a jack underneath your truck easily
A flash light
A shallow pan that can hole up to 2 gallons of oil, which can be picked up at any local automotive store
A 5/8 inch open end wrench
A 4 end tire tool, which can be purchased and any local automotive store
A 3-ton jack, or any jack that can pick up one side of the truck safely
2 10-ton jack stands
1 tube of basic grease
5 quarts of oil, which ever viscosity you would like
1 oil filter
An oil filter wrench
INSTRUCTIONS

CHANGING YOUR OIL

            DRAINING YOUR OIL

1. Run engine for about 5 minutes or just enough to get the oil warmed up then turn off your engine

2. Set parking brake 

3. Place jack under front cross member under the engine. jack until the front of the truck lifts slightLY

4. Continue lifting the front of the truck until you have enough room to crawl under comfortably

5. Before getting under your truck undo the oil fill cap to allow the oil to drain easier

6. Place 2 jack stands underneath the front cross member lower the jack slowly until the full weight of the vehicle is on the jack stands

7. Bring the oil filter, oil filter wrench, 5/8 in wrench, and your oil bucket under the truck with you

8. Loosen the oil pan bolt slowly and then remove the remainder of the way by hand CAUTION OIL WILL BE EXTREMELY HOT

9. Allow oil to drain completely  into the oil bucket

10. Once all of the oil is out of the oil pan reinstall the oil pan drain plug, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN IT SHOULD BE A SNUG FIT

11. Move to the front of the engine and remove the old oil filter CAUTION OIL WILL BE EXTREMLY HOT

12. Once removed clean up any spilled oil
