Directions, Transportation & Parking

Participants arriving at the conference by plane will likely be arriving at the Lafayette Regional Airport (LFT). There are three airlines that service this airport: American Airlines, Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

A taxi from the airport to the conference hotel costs approximately 11 dollars and the duration of the drive is about 10 minutes. The phone number of Dixie Cab Company is 337-237-3333.

The local organizers will also arrange for free transportation between the conference hotel and the airport, but are not yet sure how extensive this will be.

Participants have the option of renting a car from among six car rental companies (Alamo, AVIS, Budget, Hertz, National, Enterprise) with booths at the airport. There is also a car rental place (Enterprise) within walking distance to the conference hotel (and the walk passes many great restaurants!).

Below are directions to the conference hotel, if you're driving.
  • If you're going west on I-10 (e.g., from Baton Rouge), from I-10 West take the LA-182 E/N University Ave exit (Exit 101). Then turn left onto LA-182 S/N University Ave and take this for 3.4 miles. Take a slight right onto W Pinhook Rd/LA-182 and go about half a mile: the hotel will be on your left.
  • If you're going east on I-10 (e.g., from Houston), from I-10 East, take Exit 100, which is the LA-3184/Ambassador Caffery Pkwy exit, then turn right onto LA-3184 S/Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. Continue to follow LA-3184 S for 2 miles: LA-3184 S becomes LA-3025 and you stay on this last road for 3 miles. Turn left onto W Pinhook Rd/LA-182. Soon you will see the hotel on your right.
  • If you're coming from New Orleans, after getting onto I-10 West, follow the first set of directions above.
  • If you're coming from Lafayette Regional Airport: as you come out of the airport, turn left on Surrey Street (LA-728-8). After .4 miles, this street becomes E University Ave. After .6 miles on E University Ave., turn left onto W Pinhook Rd (LA-182). After about half a mile, you will see the hotel on your left.

There are certainly lots of parking spaces at the conference hotel. Additionally, the number 15 parking pay lot (which is right next to the lecture hall and has over 100 parking spots) will have lots of spaces during the conference dates.
