Home  About Me

I was born and raised in South Louisiana.  I grew up on a farm a couple miles north of Rayne where my father had a small farm and a machine shop.

After I graduated High school I joined the Marine Corps.  My Military Occupational Special (MOS), otherwise known as job, was Ground Electronic Warfare/Signals Intelligence.  Some of the skills to perform this job include:

·        Knowledge in Unix/Windows Operating systems

·        Knowledge and the capability to set up Computer/Telephone networks

·        Server, network, and client administration (Helpdesk).

·        Satellite/Radio Communications

I do not claim to be proficient in these fields or in any one field.  I spent most of my time doing helpdesk and computer network operations.

My first duty station was 3rd Intelligence Battalion, Camp Hansen, Okinawa.  There for only six months a tsunami hit Sri Lank, Thailand, and other Southeast Asia countries in late 2004, I was asked to help make and maintain web pages for what was initially called Joint Task Force-536 (JTF-536): Operation Unified Assistance.  When other countries joined in to help and it was no longer a sole United States venture, the name was change to Combined Support Force-536 (CSC-536).  After being active duty for a little over a year this was the first time I had something to do that was vital to operations.  I made the the CSC websites, unsecure and secure, where kept up-to-date with important information.  Real-time data such as Requests For Information, troop whereabouts, sorties, etc were kept on these pages for people to look at from Thailand, Japan, and the United States.

I was no longer needed for that after about 6 week as the support and personnel were starting to slow down.  After returning to my duty station I was in charge of the web pages for them.  Most of the same activity occurred but at a much slower rate.

After that it was routine work day in and day out until I met a lovely lady, Arisa, who is now my wife.  We lived in Okinawa for 7 months until it was time for me to move to a new duty station.  Three years after arriving in Okinawa I was on my way back to the states, this time to 1st Radio Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California.  Once again I was back to provide helpdesk support.  It did not take long for my superiors to learn that I have worked with websites before and I was doing that again.  I eventually became a liaison for my battalion to the National Security Agency.  I was to make sure that everyone had the proper clearances for them to do their jobs in Iraq.

I ended my active service in August 2008.  I had moved home just before Christmas, which I had not had at home since 2002, and New Years. My wife and enrolled to ULL in a very short amount of time to begin that spring semester.

I am a computer science major with a focus in information technology and a minor in mathematics.  Most of my time is spend keeping up with my computer science class and projects and staying in line with calculus because these classes move faster than my brain can learn.

In my spare time, when I’m not studying, I will mostly likely be seen doing/learning something about airplanes.  I have several remote controlled airplanes and helicopters and enjoy playing flight simulator regularly.  When I graduate college I plan on getting my private pilots license for recreational flying.
