Course Objectives:
(1) To become acquainted
with definitions, characteristics, and influences of creativity.
(2) To identify oneself
as a creative individual.
(3) To learn techniques
of planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of creative activities
across the early childhood curriculum.
(4) To participate in
a variety of creative activities.
(5) To develop and prepare
creative activities for use in early childhood settings.

Attendance Policy:
The student is
responsible for securing all information and materials from missed classes.
Exam make-up: Make-up exams will be given only in the case of a verified illness.
Emergency Evacuation procedures: A map of this floor is posted near the elevator marking the evacuation route and the Designated Rescue Area. This is an area where emergency service personnel will go first to look for individuals who need assistance in exiting the building. Students who need assistance should identify themselves to the instructor.
Course Assignments:
(1) Class attendance
and participation is essential.
(2) Three exams will
be given as scheduled on Course Scope and Sequence.
(3) Student will prepare
a unit file box using the theme assigned in class. The unit will include
activities for children aged 3-4 years. Categories must include: literature;
language arts; dramatic play/puppets; science; food; math; social studies;
movement; music; art (card and example only [note:
example made for teacher
to test experience only -- not for children to see]) All materials
will be teacher-made.
A minimum of 1 activity must be made from recycle/reuse materials.
Each activity will also have a 5X8"
index card following the "Activity Card Format". Evaluation: Age appropriateness;
quality of production; creativity enhancement. Due April 26.
(4) Students will
participate in a community art project through material collection, preparation,
or presentation.
