The essay portion of the exams will contain an article from the Wall Street Journal so students might also wish to read the publication during the semester. COURSE DESCRIPTION : The purpose of this course is for the students to learn the principles of Management and Organizational Behavior. Classical, Behavioral and Management Science approaches will be used to examine the Planning Organizing, Leading and Controlling functions in today's business. Additionally, the topics of ethics, diversity and the global economy will be woven through out the course. COURSE GOALS & OBJECTIVES : 1) The memorization of the essential facts and principles of Management 2) The ability to professionally use and communicate these principles. 3) To improve the student's ability to lead and manage their own careers and personal lives. ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance is expected and roll will be taken. Attendance is a factor in the class participation portion of your grade. One can hardly demonstrate ones professional communications skills if one is absent . Following University policy, 10% of classes are allowed to be missed before deductions are made to your grade. I understand that some of you have other obligations but you should understand that those are not reasons to earn grades in management. Use you allowed 10% of the classes wisely! STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: A map of this floor is posted near the elevator marking the evacuation route and the designated rescue area. This is an area where emergency personnel will go first to look for individuals who need assistance in exiting the building. Students who may need assistance should identify themselves to the teaching faculty. GRADING POLICY: Exam 1 25% Exam 2 25% Comprehensive Final exam 25% Class Participation 25% EXAMS: The first two Exams will be composed of 25 multiple choice questions on the material in the readings and lectures plus a required essay. The essay will test the application of one of the sections theories to an article from the Wall Street Journal. The final will be like the first exams except it will include 75 multiple choice questions. CLASS PARTICIPATION: There will be many opportunities to discuss ideas in class. Many assignments require class participation in groups. Your participation will be rewarded. If you demonstrate your lack of preparedness that will be penalized. Attendance is also a factor. (See Attendance Policy above) CHEATING: I have been asked to make a statement on cheating. I am against it.
