Undergraduates, graduate students, and all majors are welcome.

No prior experience in archaeology necessary.

Earn six credit hours in Anthropology (ANTH 490G) while doing historical archaeology!

Learn scientific techniques of archaeological survey, excavation & site documentation.

Participate in a systematic study of a local historic site.

Discover the excitement of historical archaeology!

The Field School will meet Monday - Fridays, 7:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M., June 2 – July 3, 2008. Transportation will be available from the UL Lafayette campus. There will be a $20.00 activity fee. Permission of the instructor is required. The co-requisite course, Archaeological Records (Anth 499G), will be offered during the Fall 2008 semester. Space is limited, so apply early!
Student Employment Opportunity

in Historical Archaeology

Research Assistant Needed for Summer and Fall 2008 Semesters.
Summer 2008 Semester at Avery Island: Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, June 2 - July 3 ($7.00/hour).

Fall 2008 Semester in Mouton Hall on Campus: Tues & Thurs, 12:30 - 1:45 P.M., plus additional flexible hours, 15 hours per week ($7.00/hour).

Gain experience in archaeological and historical research. An interest in archaeology, history and culture is required. Excellent writing skills needed. No prior experience in archaeology necessary. Anthropology, history, and related majors encouraged to apply.
