The two most important things to know before you start any pilates routine is how to keep your body and mind focused.

Balance your mind

zz    Pilates helps you to balance your mind and body, and is a great way to relieve stress. The first thing you need to do before you start a pilate routine is to get your head in the game. Thank 3-5 minutes both before and after  your exercise to focus in. Take a few slow relaxing breaths. The best way to go about this is to close your eyes and take a deep breath in while lifting your shoulder to ears ears. On your exhale image all your worries falling away as you slowly drop your shoulders. With your eyes closed image an endless ocean and with every inhale let the shore come up, and on the exhale let the water just take your cares away out to sea.
During your workout you always want to stay focused on the exercise you are performing and nothing else. With correct technique and time, you can perform practically any exercise. But, the correct technique takes focus, so try to let all your worries float away. Really focus on what you are doing and keep in mind how your body is aligned at all times. One of the most common mistakes of pilates is poor technique, which only leads to injuries

Balance your body

Pilates focuses on strengthening your core which will improve your posture, make you look slimmer,
and make you less prone to injury. One of the most important things to remember during your
workout is to always keep your abs tight. Always try to exhale on the strenuous part of the exercise,
and inhale on the relaxed part. For example, when performing crunches, exhale as you go up and
inhale as you go down. Once you have mastered this skill, it becomes a part of your everyday life.
This is the most efficient and effective way to breath, and will give you a constant ab workout.
