How Can ULL Get the Air Force ROTC Program Started
Air Force ROTC stands for Air Force Reserve Officer
Training Corps. This provides you with a program to hone your
time management, physical fitness and analytical skills and helps you
to push yourself to achieve your goals.
The Air Force ROTC is offered at over 1000 universities as a cooperative program that prepares you to become an officer in the Air Force.
In addition to training to become an officer, other benefits are gained throught the program such as:
- It provides a means to get money to attend college.
- It allows one to get the most out of college and out
of life.
- ROTC provides the opportunity to get an education while working toward a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force
- The chance to experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities

In order to be eligible to apply for the ROTC, certain requirements must be met. You are eligible to apply if you:
- a US citizen
- full time student
- 18 years of age or older or 17 with parental consent
- are physically qualified
- have good moral character
- are in good academic standing
- just entered college or still have at least two years
remaining before graduation.

There are students that leave Lafayette to go to a college that has an Air Force ROTC so that they can participate. This causes a drop in enrollment for ULL. Something should be done to get this ROTC program at ULL.Based on information given on LSU's website, it seems that LSU has both and army ROTC and an Air Force ROTC program. This is an example of something that ULL could do also.
