My Hobbies

Even though I am an aspiring mathematician, there are some other things that I absolutely love to do. Here are a few examples:

1. Playing quizbowl -- I have done so for eight years, the last four with the UL Lafayette Club for Academic Competition. I am the club's all-time leading scorer. The 2008-2009 season will mark my third season as a Division 1 college quizbowl player, and my first as a Division 1 grad student. In 2006, I was part of a NAQT sectional championship-winning team along with Bryan Fontenot, Chris Fontenot, and Scott Broussard. Now I look forward to the next few years of the organization's existence and uniqueness. I strongly believe that we will be able to win a few big tournaments next year if we have the right lineup in place.

2. Playing video games -- Playing video games has been my passion since I've been two years old. Yes, I have been playing for almost twenty years and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. I will prepare a list of my favorite games to go up here on the site; however, for the current moment, I'll share a few of them with you all:

3. Reading -- most recently, I've taken a liking to reading quite a bit. Books I've read since the end of March include: Fathers and Sons, Candide, Jude the Obscure, A Gathering of Old Men, Breakfast of Champions, Galapagos, Slaughterhouse-Five, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Love in the Time of Cholera, A Clockwork Orange, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Nostromo, Lord Jim, Catch-22, Snow Country, The Sound of the Mountain, The Makioka Sisters, The Stranger, The Plague, The Master and Margarita, and The Death of Artemio Cruz.

4. Eating out with my friends -- lately, I've been eating out with my friends at a bunch of different locales, including Applebee's, Chili's, Posado's, Copeland's, Zeus, and any other place that they want to eat. I also don't mind fast food.

5. I love spending time with my eight-year-old nephew, Tray. He is an absolute pleasure to be around, especially when he is doing well in school. I believe that it is best not to force knowledge down a child's throat; however my family members don't necessarily believe in the same ideals as I do.
