Draining the Oil
1) You should locate and become familiar with the parts you’ll need to know. The drain plug is underneath the ATV in the center of the engine. The oil fill plug is on the left crankcase side of the engine above the shifter, and the oil filter is right below it with 2 bolts holding the filter in place.
2) Start your Honda TRX 450 R, and let it run continuously for about 5 minutes.
3) Place your drain bucket, pan, or tray underneath the ATV, right below the drain plug. (Look at Figure A)
4) Use your 12mm socket to unscrew the drain plug. *CAUTION: OIL WILL BE HOT*
5) Remove the oil fill plug. (Look at Figure B)
6) Clean the oil fill plug thoroughly to make sure no dirt gets inside the engine.
7) It is optional that while the drain plug is removed to take a piece of tubing and blow into it to flush out any remaining oil that may have not drained. (Look at Figure C)
