Comet and Cluster
by Joseph Andriano

Is this only a comet
or a Charon's boat
ushering souls
out to the Oort?

Some night, not too soon, I'm in no hurry,
I hope to join them singing,
no not Hale-Bopp the gang's all here,

but the music of whatever sphere we're in.

Or is this now a ship approaching a
globular cluster,  hive of light .  .  .

A swarm of stars albino bees
or halo of angels around a god
drowned in its own pool?
What's it to me, to you,
out here away from the core?
We cannot cluster without war,
gravity does not draw us
together, as it has those ancient stars.
