  • 4/17/08: Homework: Section 5.2: 17. Recall that one can use a Riemann sum to estimate the value of a definite integral. Then, for the definite integrals in the following listed problems (in Section 5.2), do what is asked for each problem. For 20, in the left-hand sum (lhs) for n=100, write down the first three terms and the last three terms. For 21, in the right-hand sum for n=10^8, write down the last two terms. For 24, in the rhs for when "delta t" is .0001, write down the second and next-to-last terms. Section 5.3: do 1 by replacing the word "Find" with "Estimate, by letting n=1,". Also, do 3, 7, 16abd, 21. Do, but don't turn in: Section 5.3: 4, 8, 22.
  • 4/22/08: Homework: (you can use your calculator to find the exact value of the definite integral, if the directions require an exact value) Section 5.3: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16c, 18, 25, 30. Section 5.4: 2, 9. Section 5.5: 5. Section 7.1: 3, 6, 30, 36, 47.
  • 4/24/08: Homework: Section 7.1: 31, 34, 40, 42, 44-46, 50, 55. Also, from Section 7.3, do problems 4 and 11 using the method described in class today. Do, but don't turn in: Section 7.1: 18, 23, 33, 50.
  • 4/29/08: Homework: no homework today; Midterm three.

  • 5/6/08: Homework: Section 7.3: 31, 39 - also, give a geometric interpretation of the answer to (b); 40bc, 43.
  • 5/8/08: no homework today.
