More Photos of Nancy

The first two photos below appeared in The Daily Advertiser on Thursday, February 25.  They were taken by P.C. Piazza on Wednesday, February 24, and appear here courtesy of The Daily Advertiser.  Nancy had undergone her final interview in Baton Rouge that morning, and was now returning to Baton Rouge for the reception and announcement.  When these were taken, she did not yet know the final results.

The first photo below was cropped, and appeared in the top banner on the front page, with the words "Setting An Example" as the lead-in to the story on page 6:

The final photo appeared the following day.  It was taken Thursday, February 25.  A bit of history:  We had to travel back to Baton Rouge that morning for a reception at the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  That morning, before we left, Nancy's secretary Marilyn called and told her to be sure to phone the school the moment she crossed back into the parish on her return.  We did, and Marilyn then 'ordered' Nancy to come in to school by way of Broadmoor Boulevard off of Johnston.  We stopped at home to pick up my car, and I followed her in (with a video camera running:  Ever try to shift and steer one-handed?!).  Of course, two staff members were waiting with a phone when she turned in to the Boulevard, and when she got close to school, children, and teachers, and staff, and parents, and friends were on either side of the street to give her a Hero's welcome, cheering, and yelling, and chanting "Go, Mrs. Cech!!!" and throwing confetti, and waving signs and banners.  The final picture captures the soul of that celebration:
