How to Build a Duck Blind

Finding a Good Location
Building the Blind
Camouflaging the Blind
These instructions are for constructing a duck blind in a rice field.  All hunters from ages 16 and up can construct this blind using materials from your local lumber store and a few tools lying around in the tool box.  This blind is very easy to build and is very sturdy.  It can hold approximately2 hunters and is mobile.  This project should take about 1 to 2 hours to construct.

     Materials
  • A large 8 pound hammer used to knock the posts into the ground for sturdiness.
  •  A smaller claw hammer used to nail the blocks, wire, and board to the post.
  • Nails about 3 inches long to secure the blocks and board to the posts.
  •   Fencing nails to secure the wire to the posts (should be u shaped).
  • A tape measure to measure lengths of the block from the bottom of posts, to measure the distance from the water to the blocks, and the distance from post to post.
  • 16 feet of wire to nail to the posts to hold your camouflage.
  • 4- six foot post which will be your corners (can be round or square).
  • 4- one inch blocks to hold your board which you will be standing on to stay out of the water.
  •   2- five gallon buckets to sit on while hunting.
  • Make sure there is a lot of grass around to camouflage the blind on just three sides.
