Textbook:
Gould, James A. and Robert J. Mulvaney. Classic Philosophical Questions.
Recent Edition.
Goal:
To understand and exhibit ability to manipulate major concepts of Introductory Philosophy on a first year, honors level.
Requirements:
1. Attendance and Class Participation (10%)
2. One Classroom Presentation (10%)
3 Two Argumentative Essays: 600 words, each. (60%)
4. Final Paper: 1200 words. (Argumentative essay, using at least two
primary sources, in addition to the textbook.) (20%)
Rules:
1. Attendance is mandatory. Absences in excess of 10% of class time can lower final grades by one letter for each 10%.
2. Accepting late assignments, papers, and testing is at the discretion of the instructor who may downgrade proportionally. Plagiarism flunks. The Code of Student Conduct shall govern disruptive behavior and all other matters.
3. Only one voice shall be recognized at a time.
EMERGENCY EVACUATION PROCEDURES: A map of this floor is posted near the elevator marking the evacuation route and the Designated Rescue Area. This is an area where emergency service personnel will go first to look for individuals who need assistance in exiting the building. Students who may need assistance in exiting should identify themselves to the teaching faculty.
