- The Young Mathematicians
Network Site has a lot of useful information for mathematicians in
their first few years after the Ph.D.
- There is also a site with Job Search Strategies
and Techniques, maintained by the Math Department at the
University of Illinois at Chicago.
- There are a lot of Web Search engines around. I use Yahoo when you know what sort of topic
you want, and AltaVista when
you are looking for specific words or phrases. Of late, however, I
find that Google is an excellent
engine.
- If you are looking for new books, Amazon is probably a good bet. If you
are looking for used books, you should definitely head over to Bookfinder.
- If you are interested in the Evolution-Creationism debate, you
should check out the National
Center for Science Education and the Talk Origins Web
FAQ.
- I find the Committee of the Index's
Corrections to Copernicus to be an interesting read.
- If you want to learn HTML, there are many places worse than The Beginning HTML Goodies
site. If all you want is the tags and syntax, you should check out the
Bare Bones Guide to HTML.
- For tips and suggestions on organizing your website, I recommend
the Yale
Style Manual.
- And when you are done writing your pages, you should validate them
with the W3 HTML Validation Service.
- I also have some links to some frivolous
entertainment sites, just for fun.
