Betsy Miguez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina, and a Master of Library Service degree from the Graduate School of Library Service at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She is a member of the American Library Association, and she has been a member of the Louisiana Library Association since 1982. She served on the 2009 John Newbery Award Committee. She has held the offices of Louisiana Library Association Secretary and Academic Section Chair. Miguez has worked in public, school, and academic libraries, and she has taught children’s literature courses at three colleges including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has served on statewide planning committees for Year of the Young Reader, Toddler/Preschool Story Time Workshop, Louisiana Summer Reading Program, and Louisiana Young Readers' Choice Award. She presented the regional workshops on summer programming for the State Library of Louisiana, 1988-1990. Miguez is Assistant Dean of Public Services/Associate Professor at Dupré Library. |
